For eligible patients, rapid access to venous port insertion may be available, with a target turnaround of 48 hours from receipt of referral to procedure, where clinically appropriate and subject to specialist assessment.

Patients can be referred to their preferred participating specialist. The specialist, supported by their practice team, will coordinate the clinical assessment and procedure arrangements.

The Rapid Access Port pathway provides a simple, rapid and streamlined approach to venous port insertion — helping patients access timely treatment while providing referring clinicians with a straightforward and responsive referral pathway.
